Deco Theatre Looking to Keep it Local, as it goes Scouting for Potential ‘Peter Pan’ Panto Stars

Opportunity is knocking for three talented local youngsters!

There may still be seven months to go until the curtain rises on The Deco Theatre’s 2017 Christmas Panto, Peter Pan, but stars are already signing contracts, and auditions about to take place.

Peter Pan runs at The Deco from December 8 to 30, with popular singer Lydia Lucy already confirmed in a lead role, and more big names to be announced in the next few weeks.

But The Deco is keen to give opportunities to young local talent, and are holding open auditions for the roles of the three children in the show – Michael, John and Tinkerbell – next month.

For all roles, hopefuls will need to be able to sing, dance and act. For Tinkerbell they’ll be aged 7-9, between 120cm and 130cm in height, for Michael 8-10, and 130cm to 140cm in height, and for John 10-12 and 140cm to 150cm tall.

Auditions take place on June 23, from 4pm at The Deco. But anyone wishing their son/daughter to be involved needs to call Toni Sherman, on 01604 491005, between 10am and 2pm for a chat, after which an audition pack will be sent out if it is agree your child has the suitable experience to audition for these challenging rolls.

“This is a terrific opportunity for three local youngsters, which we’re delighted to offer,” said Kevin Roach, from Stage Right Productions, that run The Deco Theatre. “Over the past few years we’ve had some fantastically talented young people appear in our shows, and we love spotting and supporting talent young people.

“Last year we discovered Naomi Wilkins, who was superb in Snow White, and again in Aladdin last month,” said Mr Roach. “We also gave opportunities in Aladdin to other young local talent, including Ged Marshall, Tayla-Jade Sherman and Daisy Ward, all from Northamptonshire, all who performed brilliantly throughout the run, and all with enormous potential.”

Applications for the Peter Pan auditions will close on Friday 26th May, giving all hopefuls plenty of time to prepare for their audition.

For more information, call Toni Sherman, between 10am and 2pm, on 01604 491005 or Peter Jones on 07841 997408
