Helen Shardlow is a fully qualified and registered Medical Herbalist, based at Orchard Clinic where she is offering herbal medicine consultations.
I went for my consultation yesterday. I didn’t feel I had anything particularly, badly ‘wrong’ but a series of niggles I felt too small to see the doctor with yet bothersome to me, I figured Helen, seeing the whole picture, may spot a link between them all – and she did!
Herbalism uses an holistic approach whereby Helen asked me questions about lifestyle, childhood, family, illnesses, any niggles I had, use of medication both now and in the past…My consultation was a comprehensive hour of being able to talk about any health concerns – both physical and emotional.
I obviously shan’t go in to the ‘ins and outs’ of my own consultation but suffice to say Helen immediately saw all my little niggles were connected and pointed to one over riding issue (which I had no clue about). I’ll be popping in on Wednesday next week to pick up my herbal tinctures which she has blended specifically for me. Enough for a month then I shall return to see her and let her know how I am getting on. I left the appointment feeling listened to, understood (and empathised with) yet also positive that she would be able to help.
Herbal Medicine Consultations
Herbal Medicine can help with all the typical conditions you may otherwise consult your GP for (or not want to bother her about in my case) and is especially well suited for mild to moderate, acute and chronic conditions and for people seeking a more natural approach to their health, where the underlying root causes of an illness are tackled and not just the symptoms.
Medical Herbalists are trained in the same medical, diagnostic and clinical skills as a General Practitioner Doctor.
Helen is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. Not every herbalist is a medical herbalist, and this is hugely important in finding the right person, with the proper knowledge and training to treat your cause and symptoms.
