In a lovely field in Ringstead live Pan, Frodo and Neptune…. They are three adorable, local alpacas whose fleece has been made into alpaca yarn.
Alpaca yarn can be used for any kind of knitting, crochet or other wool projects. It’s incredibly soft and having felt items made from their yarn I can confirm that Pan has the softest fleece I have ever felt. For any alpaca yarn experts out there, Pan’s yarn has a real feel of baby alpaca – although it is not.

This super soft yarn is ideal to anyone allergic to sheep’s wool. Sheep’s wool can have an itchy feel to it, sometimes a little prickly even, setting off an itchy allergic reaction, unlike alpaca yarn.
The yarn is 100% pure Alpaca, undyed and spun at a small English family run mill. The weight is double knit and balls are 100g. Each 100g ball is £14.99.
The Alpacas name is on the yarn ball, so when I wear the wrap I am making I will know that Pan and Frodo from Ringstead are helping me keep warm. The ‘grey’ colour is made from mixing the fleece of Pan and Frodo, curious as separately they look cream and brown, together they make a lovely grey colour!
